Make your coffee preparation more sustainable with
Black Eagle Maverick
Coffee consumption continues to grow and is confirmed as one of the most consumed beverages globally with an increase ranging from 2% to 2.5% per year. And while the economic growth of the coffee industry continues to be significant, there is also great attention to reducing environmental and social impact, with the aim of offering sustainable coffee served in a sustainable way.
Large players in the Food & Beverage sector are investing heavily in an increasingly sustainable future, starting with the design of buildings that house their headquarters and points of sale based on certification programs such as LEED, BREAM, WELL, ESTIDAMA, and many others. These programs promote a sustainability-oriented approach, recognising the performance of buildings in key areas, such as energy and water saving, reduction of CO2 emissions, improvement of the ecological quality of interiors, materials, and resources used.
In this context, the espresso machine plays a very important role. The Ongreening portal, which provides detailed information on the compliance of products with the main environmental standards in the construction sector, has added Victoria Arduino’s Black Eagle Maverick as an espresso machine that complies with the major sustainability rating systems in the building industry (LEED, BREEAM, WELL, Estidama, etc.).
What is Ongreening?
Ongreening is a digital platform dedicated to promoting sustainability in the construction and architecture sector. Founded to facilitate the adoption of sustainable practices and materials, Ongreening focuses on sharing knowledge, resources, and innovations related to green buildings and eco-friendly design.
Ongreening offers a wide collection of certified materials and products for sustainability, providing detailed information on their environmental performance and certifications, such as LEED, BREAM, or WELL.
- In-depth information on sustainability standards: The platform helps professionals understand how specific materials or technologies can contribute to achieving sustainability goals and compliance with international standards.
- Community of professionals: Ongreening brings together architects, engineers, builders, and other industry experts interested in green solutions, fostering networking and collaboration.
- Educational resources: Includes articles, webinars, and guides to raise awareness of the importance of building sustainably and to support professionals in implementing best practices.
- Reference projects: Presents case studies of sustainable buildings built around the world, showing the practical application of available products and solutions.
Ongreening is therefore a useful tool for those working in the construction sector who wish to integrate sustainability into their projects.
How does Black Eagle Maverick save energy and reduce environmental impact, maintaining high quality and performance?
- Reduction of energy consumption by 37% compared to VA388 Black Eagle (previous model): the new T3 Genius technology, an evolution of the T3 system, offers the same precision and control, using 37% less energy. This significant result was obtained by reducing the volumes of stainless steel boilers, optimising the group’s weight and increasing its reactivity and precision, improving the electronics and using waste energy to preheat the incoming water. In the latter case, two solutions have also been implemented to use the waste energy coming from both the motor (Motor Cooling System) and the dispensing (T.E.R.S. – Thermal Energy Recovery System) to preheat the incoming water with an energy saving of 6% and 8% respectively for each coffee dispensed.
- Reduction of environmental impact: A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study conducted on Black Eagle Maverick has revealed that the extraction technology and its associated components contribute to a 23% reduction in environmental impact, as measured in kilos of CO2 emissions, compared to the previous model. LCA is a structured and standardised methodology used to evaluate the environmental impacts of a product throughout its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal. The study has highlighted how the specific design and materials used in the Black Eagle Maverick have significantly lowered its carbon footprint. This represents a substantial step forward in reducing emissions
- Reduction of water resources: Black Eagle Maverick has introduced solutions that guarantee the perfect functioning of the machine while reducing the water resources used. This is the case of Autopurge, an automatic group cleaning system that uses only the right amount of water to clean the group.
- Operator well-being: The lines of Black Eagle Maverick are inspired by the heritage of Victoria Arduino, but above all they have been designed based on the needs of baristas, roasters, chains, and specialty coffee shops that require high-performing and sustainable machines. The machine is even lower to facilitate the relationship with the customer and to offer an excellent customer experience. The work area has been designed based on ergonomic principles to promote the physical and mental well-being of the barista
