Some of the best experiences around the world happen in a bar. Historically, bars have been places of innovation, offering cutting-edge thinkers a safe space to explore new ideas and cultural shifts. Even today, the coffee shop industry embraces this legacy of innovation by adopting new ideas and constantly adapting to changes in customer behavior. Obviously, the quality of the coffee served and new technologies that can facilitate potential and inspiration by creating something profoundly unique make a difference, but visually, the image you convey is very important-every detail of a café can inspire people and help the venue communicate its vision and values. The Black Eagle Maverick and Victoria Arduino’s Mythos work to harmonize a sensory experience that brings a true sense of design, quality, and most importantly, connection to every person who walks through the bar door.

“Victoria Arduino’s Black Eagle Maverick is one of the important foundations of the experience we offer in the store. Everything is built on the visual experience and the production quality of our products”-said Luke Fan, the owner of Pluto/ Liquid of idea, a cafe located in the BFC Financial Center, Huangpu District, Shanghai. The café is a kind of art exhibition. Pluto refers to the café as a “fluid medium”: coffee, food, art and urban space are connected there, leading you to explore the boundaries of imagination.
The Pluto/ Liquid of idea bar, designed by Violet Wang Ruhui (the curator of the first Design Miami Shanghai), as artistic director, and WAA (we architect anonymous – the famous architecture firm that built the Yinchuan Art Museum), in charge of space design, created a coherent experiential space, sculptures and large-scale spatial installations. Black Eagle Maverick, Mythos, all interior design and functional structures, were chosen to be effectively artworks integrated into the space. Minimal, contemporary and solid design is the key. The lines and shapes of the Black Eagle Maverick are inspired by Victoria Arduino’s history, but the coffee machine focuses on the needs of contemporary coffee roasters, chains, and specialty coffee shops. An even lower-profile design to encourage customer relations, along with eye-catching aesthetic elements, such as a stainless steel bar that echoes the brand’s logo and solid feet with more contemporary lines, perfectly fit and underscore the Pluto/Liquid of idea design.

Unlike the common coffee shop space, several irregular screens are built and arranged to create a smooth visual experience in the space, while two Black Eagle Maverick coffee machines and a long Mythos coffee grinder station work to provide a great sensory experience. “What we are trying to achieve at the product level is to establish a strong connection between the holy trinity: Beans, Milk and Machine”-said Luke Fan. “Victoria Arduino coffee machines have always been an industry standard in terms of consistency and the answer for the most demanding commercial scenario. The Black Eagle Maverick as a new flagship model harmonizes aesthetically with our design space and language, and when it comes to performance it has certainly exceeded our expectations in terms of consistency, ease of use, ease of training, rock-solid quality, and all the extra tricks that other brands and models simply do not have. We have modeled our training and manufacturing standard operating procedures around all the hardware we have in the store. The Black Eagle Maverick has helped tremendously to make it easier.”
